Hey Randy, Here is some info I put together that may be of some interest to you. Dont take
this as the "Gospel" as you know in gathering genealogical info there are many errors and I`m sure you will find some
in this info. Would appreciate any corrections you have that are documented. Sometime this summer I
will call you while I`m up there and get some of your info on Byrd Rufus if you dont care.
I have just about quit trying to gather info. Sometime someone ask me a question I cant answer and I will search
a little. Like you, I do enjoy talking about all the early Huffines and trying to understand all the hardships they
went through. The more I look the more hardships I find!!! Take care Lee

Va. . Notes about the Hofheintz ,Hofines, Hufhine , Huffhines Huffines--. Many different
Spellings and Variations of this name. We know that five brothers and one sister came to the US in the mid seventeen hundreds. .
The first two were Johann Jacob born about 1738 in Germany and died about 1793 in Guilford Co. NC. and Johann George born
about 1740 in Germany and died in Saltlick Township, Fayette county Penn. June 27 1825. Johann Jacob
came to the US and landed in Philidelphia on Sept 21 1751.on a ship Named "Two Brothers" from Rotterdam, Holland. We also
found another ship listing Johann George Hofheintz arriving in Philidelphia Sept 16 1751 on a ship named "Brothers"
.(To this date we dont think this is the same Johann George that came over later with his wife and kids on a ship named
"Brigantine Mary" on Oct 31, 1789.). Another brother, Johann Jost (Joseph) Hofheintz, born in Ritterhausen, Germany
1744 came to the US in 1766 and settled in Westmorland co. Donagal Township, Pa. He married Susannah Woolery 1769.
She was born in Hagerstown, Md. 1749. Next came Johann Daniel born 1736
in Germany and Adam born in Germany 1740 they came to Philiadilepia on a ship "Pallas" from Rotterdam.Daniel settled for
a short time near his brother, Jacob in Pa. There he met and married Catarina Wagner.
After Johann Daniel Married Catarina Wagner, who is the sister of the now famous founder on the German reform church in
Penn.Tobis Wagner, they migrated down to NC. Settled in Surry co.just west of Guilford co. later to become Stokes
co. about 1798.Then later part of Stokes co became Forsyth co. in 1849..They were near Greensboro NC in a little town
called Yanceyville. Johann Daniel died around 1816 and both he and Catarina are believed to be buried around thee
Greensboro,Yanceyvillearea, Possibly near Huffine Mill Road. Daniel Hufhines,
son of Johann Daniel, Married Mary Jane Teel about 1810/1813.. There is evidence from an old Deed made to Daniel Dated
1824 where the state of Tenn sold Daniel 100 acres of land for Twelve and one half cents per acre. This land is located
in District 2 of Jackson co. on Indian Creek. There is another deed shows he owned land located in District 3 of
Jackson co. on Wartrace Creek. Teel Cem is Located on the old Adam Teel Farm. There is also evidence of a Deed that
Daniel owned land in Smith Co. on Turkey Creek before moving to Mill Town.(Wartrace Creek) We further know that Daniel
bought 130 acres of land from Adam Teel in 1838, this farm was known as the "Peter Teel" farm and is located at the
Old Campground Grave yard and Church site. This Farm is presently owned by Clay Cook. Clay told me his mother, who lived
close to 100 yrs old, told him she went to school in the old Methodist Church building which was on the North end
of theCamp Ground Cemetary. Daniel donated one and one half acres across the creek from there to build another Methodist
church and Mr.Cook told me he thinks the church was built around 1870 and was in use until it was tore down in 1956.
A dwelling house sits on the old church grounds at this time. GG grandady Riley
Hufhines owned about 300acres of property just up the road in a place called Beach Grove. His property was sold at auction
after his death and some 100 plus acres was bought by his son, George W Hufhines. After Riley, G grandady George
W. Hufhines, Riley`s son, took over the property and finished his life there. After that a Mr. Oliver Williford
who married Vallie Huffines bought the place and at this writing his son William Jr. lives in a house next to the
old house that Riley and George lived in which is still standing in pretty good shape. I was recently told that the old
house is made from hand hewn yellow poplar timber, believed to have been re- built after 1880 by G W Hufhines. (This
info from Jr. Williford)
This info was assembled by Byrd Lee Huffines after many years of gathering bits and pieces.
However in 1997 I met a wonderful friend and cousin, Denise Young, who helped greatly with lots of this info.Thank you
Denise!!! Thanks to all the other cousins who contributed.
